Veteran Nollywood actor Tony Umez and his beautiful wife Pasty are celebrating their 17th marriage anniversary today.
After undergoing a successful kidney operation in the United Kingdom some weeks back, Nollywood actor, Leo Mezie, returned to Nigeria on Wednesday.
Now sporting a more refreshed and healthy appearance, the Abia State-born thespian looked every bit like his former self.
A Nollywood stakeholder, Monye Uche, shared the good news on Facebook on Wednesday, when he posted a photograph of himself, alongside the actor flanked by other well-wishers.
He captioned the post, “Guess Who is Back Actor no dey DIE’!”
One of Nollywood’s most reserved and under celebrated actors, news of Mezie’s ill health got out four months ago on social media. The news of his ailment was broken barely a month after popular music producer, OJB Jezreel passed on. The latter died three years after he underwent a kidney transplant.
Mezie shared his account details and welcomed contributions towards treating his ailment and his colleagues rallied round to raise the N10 million he needed to undergo a kidney transplant. But they were only able to raise N1.2 million in one month; a far cry for the total sum required.
While receiving treatment in a United Kingdom hospital, the actor thanked his fans, friends, family and colleagues for their support, in a YouTube video, which went viral.
He said, “Hello people, this is your boy Leo Mezie, I want to use this medium to say thank you for your support, financially, thank you for your prayers, I just want to let you know that everything got across to I just want to let you know that everything got across to me.
“I want to also thank in a special way; my president, Ibinabo Fiberesima, Chioma Okoye my sister, Kele Akara my wonderful friend and brother, I want to thank Chijiro, I want to thank Ifeoma Okereke, these are the team that swore me to action immediately the news got broken. I thank you guys, I thank you all, and I pray God to bless you in a million fold. I’m sorry this came a bit late, it is just that I have been unstable, but I am now stronger and better.”
Olaniyi ‘Sanyeri’ Afonja is a household name in Nollywood. He has become one of the most known Yoruba actors with many films under his belt. Sanyeri opened up in an interview about the challenges he faced before he finally made a name as an actor. Read his story:
“The suffering I endured was really extreme. After I finished my secondary school education, I did not have a job so I delved into the theatre world. I did it for some time but I was not being paid even when I went everywhere with the group and was helping them carry their costume.”
“I had to learn how to repair shoes so I became a shoe cobbler. Eventually, I left Oyo town and came to Lagos to find greener pastures but still I was not earning anything from acting.”
“I became a mobile cobbler. I would put my materials in a wooden box, place it on my shoulder and start hitting it as I walked the length and breadth of Idumota.”
“I would constantly hit my wooden box as I walked about to call the attention of people. Then nobody knew me so I kept hitting my box all over Idumota.”
“I remember I had a handkerchief I used to cover my face because of my tribal marks.”
“The reason I concealed my tribal marks was because the Igbo boys at Idumota had the belief that if they did not give their shoes to a Ghanaian cobbler, no one could do a better job.”
“If they saw my tribal marks, they would think I was one of the touts that would normally come to disturb them for money for shop and they would not give me their shoes to repair.”
“When I saw that being a shoe cobbler was affecting my career as an actor, I had to quit and face acting squarely. I thank God that good fortunes have come my way.”
Nollywood actress and producer, Feyisara Hassan, who has lately been posting bra-less pictures on the social media has opened up on her action, saying she doesn’t enjoy putting on bra.
When reporters demanded reason for her actions, she gave a simple answer saying, “I don’t put on bra. In fact, I don’t like it.
“I only put on a bra when necessary and most times it is because of my boyfriend, he doesn’t like seeing me without wearing a bra.
“So, sometimes, I put it on because of him.”
The actress added that being blessed with good boobs, bra becomes useless to her.
She said, “What do I need a bra for when I have good boobs. I have very good boobs, so no need of bra.

The Federal Government on Tuesday said that it offered the embattled former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd), a chance to attend his father’s burial yesterday, but he (Dasuki) rejected.
Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki, the 18th Sultan of Sokoto, the great-grandson of Uthman Danfodio and the father of Sambo Dasuki, died on Monday evening at age 93.

His son (Sambo Dasuki) who is under the custody of the Department of State Service (DSS) did not attend his burial, even when he was offered the opportunity to attend by the Federal Government.
According to the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, who spoke on DW Radio Hausa, he said that;
“Even when the late Sultan was in the hospital he was allowed to go and visit him but he rejected”
“He was also asked to attend his father’s burial and stay with his family for some time, the same Dasuki (Sambo) rejected,” he added.
An undisclosed source who is close to Sambo Dasuki confirmed that he truly rejected the offer to attend his father’s burial.
He however added that the offer from the Federal Government was a plan to humiliate Dasuki and treat him like a criminal in front of his people.
Since Sambo Dasuki knew what the federal government planned against him, he rejected the offer.
“They were going to chain him, put him in a security vehicle with several security vans and make him appear like a criminal to his people,” the source who spoke to Premium Times said.
“He asked them to allow him enjoy the bail that he was granted by the courts, instead of posturing that they were doing him a favour,” the source said.
President of Republic of Ghana, Joh Dramani Mahama has commissione outstanding interchange, a beautifu piece of road infrastructure to repla the old Circle Roundabout in Accra Monday, 14th November, 2016.
According to President Mahama, th interchange becomes the longest an the highest flyover in West Africa.
“It is the longest, highest fly over in West Africa,” the president declared an ecstatic crowd of government officials, party supporters, political leaders and the general public.
The facility, which has three flyove also has a recreational facility, libra bus terminal, restaurant, fire, police ambulance stations.
The site also has an imposing statu Ghana’s first president, Dr Kwame Nkrumah which is “a fitting memori honour of the greatest Pan Africani
“Nkrumah’s statue will remind peop about the man who led the way to nation’s birth,” the President said.
The project is “not just a modern interchange but a convenient place tourism. The health and happiness citizens are also important,” he stre adding, that the citizenry can alwa take a stroll at the water park with beautiful lighting architecture.
He said the new interchange will “facilitate easy movement of goods services” on one of the most busy r in Accra.
“Experts estimate that, the congesti that used to be created here as a re of the heavy traffic and lack of traf flow, resulted in an estimated loss o about $100 million per annum to o national economy,” he added.
The president hinted that the Kaso interchange which is also near completion will be commissioned be the end of December 2016. He also promised that a number of interchanges will be built and other major roads will be dualised across country in his second term. He mentioned Pokuase interchange, Te motorway road and Accra to Kuma road will also be dualised. Ghana is rising and greater times a ahead of us, as he promised. We wil continue to work hard and change l of Ghanaians. The project cost 74 million Euros.
